About us – Grace Church Launceston
We realised that our area has heaps of people but only a handful of churches. It’s a place where we’d love to see a new Christian community to speak and live out God’s amazing grace in Jesus.
Grace Church is a new church which meets in Hadspen and is made up of people from all over the Launceston area. In 2019 a group of Presbyterian Churches in northern Tasmania decided to begin to pray and work toward establishing a new church. We begun praying that God would plant a new church to serve the south west corner of Launceston and the nearby towns in the Meander Valley and Northern Midlands.
Nathan Waterhouse and his family moved back to Tasmania from Sydney, settling in the suburb of Summerhill, to lead the new church plant. Over the past couple of years, there has been steady progress. God is bringing together a new church which loves and serves Hadspen and the wider Launceston region.
In the last half of 2020 we held information events and gatherings where we discussed the why and what it means to be a part of Jesus’ church in northern Tasmania. On the last Sunday of January 2021 we began a weekly worship service in a lounge room. We moved out of the lounge room in July 2021, and now meet in a more public venue. We ‘officially’ started our weekly public church services on the 5th September 2021.
We’re a Bible believing, Christ centred, Presbyterian church. You can read more about what that means in the links below.
It’s only the beginning of our story, and we’re only a tiny part of God’s bigger story in Jesus in his world.
We would love to welcome you on Sunday.
